Identifying Health in OHS

According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), there were an estimated 2.34 million deaths in 2013 as a result of work activities, and the greatest majority (2 million) are a result of health issues, rather than injuries. The Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) estimates there are 660 000 deaths a year as a result of cancers arising from work activities, and people in this category often suffer prolonged illness from long-term exposure to risks. These cases should not be ignored by placing the focus on accidents, which are more visible and generally result in immediate action.
