If you work with OHSAS 18001:2017
OHSAS 18001:2017 will be superseded by ISO 45001:2018 over a 3-year transition period. This means that if you currently work for an organization that is certified to OHSAS 18001:2007 you will begin to take steps to transition to the new Standard. This may include educating your audit/management system team on what the changes are in this new international standard. If this is the case, the best course for you to complete would be ‘Understanding an Occupational Health & Safety Management System including ISO 45001:2018’.
This course is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the ISO 45001:2018 OH&S Management systems standard and it is solely focused on this new standard. The Exemplar Global competency unit attained and documented on the certificate is Exemplar Global – 45001.
If you work with AS/NZS 4801:2001
The transition from AS/NZS 4801:2001 to ISO 45001:2018 is not as clear, unfortunately. There has been no official release that AS/NZS 4801:2001 will be superseded by ISO 45001:2018 … Yet! This means that if you currently work for an organization which is certified to AS/NZS 4801 it is not clear as to the transition dates or requirements to ISO 45001:2018 (as of the date of this article). Another contributing factor could be if you’re clients still require you to be certified to AS/NZS 4801:2001. If this is the case, well then that’s how it has to be! You should continue to maintain your system against the AS/NZS standard until otherwise advised. If any of these factors relate to your working environment there is no immediate need to conduct an ISO 45001:2018 course. You can always stay ahead of the pack though and complete the ‘Understanding an Occupational Health & Safety Management System including ISO 45001:2018’ course so that you are ready when we do get word of any changes!
If you work with an Integrated Management system
And if you’re really excited by all of the new Standards and you work in an Integrated Management system environment which includes OH&S, Quality and Environment then the ‘Understanding an Integrated Management System including ISO 45001:2018’ course would be the one for you! This course includes the coverage of the standards of ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018.
And finally, if you’d like to add on the competency unit which includes the principles and processes of conducting an audit whether it be internal, external or a supplier audit, as well as the Exemplar Global – 45001 competency unit from the other courses already mentioned above then the following courses, might be for you.
Lead Auditor plus ISO 45001:2018
