Environmental Management Systems (EMS) Specialist Course
With this qualification, you’ll become an internationally recognised EMS Specialist with a practical, working understanding of ISO 14001:2015. You’ll learn how to interpret requirements, apply them to real-world environmental risks and compliance obligations, and support organisations to implement, maintain, and improve an effective Environmental Management System (EMS) across any industry and location.
This course is built for people who need more than awareness, it’s for those who want the confidence to guide implementation, support audit readiness, and contribute to measurable environmental performance improvements.
After completing the course, you’ll be able to:
- Promote yourself as a competent ISO 14001 EMS Specialist
- Interpret and apply ISO 14001:2015 requirements in practical organisational contexts
- Support EMS implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement
- Identify environmental aspects and impacts, risks and opportunities, and compliance obligations
- Help prepare organisations for internal audits and external certification audits by strengthening evidence, controls, and documentation
- Assess an organisation’s EMS against ISO 14001:2015 and support decisions about the extent of conformance
- Position yourself to work toward external auditing roles when combined with Lead Auditor competency (e.g., supporting certification audits for Certification Bodies / Conformity Assessment Bodies)

The courses are broken up into a series of modules and the assessment is completed as part of the learning, step-by-step, module-by-module.
Knowledge Check
For each module, you view the content and then do the knowledge check as many times as you like. These are marked instantly by the learning management system so you know exactly which content you may need to review further. This gets you confident and prepared to do the final module assessment.
Module Assessment
Once you are confident that you have a thorough understanding of the content you can move on to the module assessment.
The module assessment is the same format as the knowledge check so you know exactly what you need to do. You are given three attempts at each assessment, after which it is locked for review by a trainer and assessor to see how we can best help you. The assessment is then unlocked for another three attempts. This means you are given the support you need to review content, review results, and consult with assessors.
