Understand, implement and audit ISO 9001:2026, from the ground up.

Understanding ISO 9001 means being able to do more than recognise its requirements. You need to be able to interpret what a clause requires, apply it within an organisation, and determine whether those requirements are being met.

This ISO 9001:2026 Quality Management Systems Specialist course takes you clause by clause through the standard. For each requirement, you will look at what it means, how it can be applied within a QMS, and how it can be audited. By the end of the course, you will have worked through ISO 9001:2026 from Clauses 1 to 10.

The course is open to everyone. It suits people learning ISO 9001 for the first time, quality managers and coordinators implementing or maintaining a QMS, and experienced auditors or practitioners adding quality management systems to their existing capability. You do not need a prior qualification or experience with ISO 9001:2015.

The skills also transfer. The way you interpret requirements, build objective evidence, and evaluate whether a system is working applies beyond ISO 9001, including the NDIS Practice Standards, NHVAS, and other legislative and regulatory compliance contexts.

Who this course is for

If ISO 9001 has landed on your desk and you need to understand it, this course is for you. It does not assume prior knowledge of the standard or auditing experience. You will work through ISO 9001:2026 clause by clause and practise applying its requirements when implementing, maintaining or auditing a QMS.

  • Quality managers, coordinators and QMS owners implementing or maintaining ISO 9001:2026
  • People new to quality who want to learn the ISO 9001:2026 properly from the start
  • Internal auditors who need to audit a quality management system against ISO 9001:2026
  • Auditors and practitioners in other disciplines adding quality to their capability
  • Consultants who advise clients on building and improving quality management systems
  • Operations, compliance and process owners who need to interpret ISO 9001 requirements in their own work
  • Anyone preparing an organisation for certification or recertification to ISO 9001:2026

Already qualified in ISO 9001:2015?

If you hold an eligible ISO 9001:2015 qualification and only need the clause by clause changes, the ISO 9001:2026 Transition Course is the faster route. This Specialist course teaches ISO 9001:2026 from the ground up, so choose it if you are new to ISO 9001 or cannot evidence an eligible prior qualification. See the ISO 9001:2026 Transition Course - Quality Management Systems .

What you'll be able to do after this course

This course focuses on applying ISO 9001:2026 as well as understanding its requirements. You will work with the standard from the perspective of someone implementing, maintaining or auditing a quality management system. By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Read and interpret any clause of ISO 9001:2026 and explain what it actually requires in plain terms
  • Determine your organisation's context, interested parties and QMS scope, and connect them to the results the system needs to deliver
  • Build the core of a quality management system: quality policy, quality objectives, and planning that accounts for risks, opportunities and change
  • Put the support and operational requirements into practice, from competence and documented information through to control of externally provided processes and nonconforming outputs
  • Apply ISO 9001:2026 requirements within an internal audit, gather objective evidence, and develop findings supported by that evidence
  • Use management review, corrective action and continual improvement to evaluate and improve the QMS
  • Apply requirements relating to quality culture, risks and opportunities, planning of changes, and climate change relevance in practical QMS settings
  • Apply ISO 9001 requirements when preparing an organisation for certification or recertification, and use the same evidence-based approach in other compliance contexts

What you'll learn

Eight modules take you through the whole of ISO 9001:2026 in the order the standard is written. Every requirement is covered three ways: understand it, implement it, audit it.

The foundations: how ISO 9001:2026 is built

You will start with the structure of ISO 9001:2026, the benefits of a quality management system, and the core concepts that support its application: the Plan Do Check Act cycle, the process approach, risk-based thinking, and the quality management principles. Clauses 1 to 3 cover scope, normative references, terms and definitions.

Context, leadership and planning

Clause 4 covers the organisation's context, interested parties, QMS scope and processes, including where climate change is relevant. Clause 5 addresses leadership and commitment, quality policy, roles and responsibilities, quality culture and ethical behaviour. Clause 6 covers risks and opportunities, separate actions to address risks (6.1.2) and opportunities (6.1.3), quality objectives, and planning changes to the QMS (6.3).

Support and operation

Clauses 7 and 8 cover the support and operational controls needed within a QMS. Clause 7 addresses people, infrastructure, the environment for operating processes, monitoring and measuring resources, organisational knowledge, competence, awareness, communication and documented information. Clause 8 covers operational planning and control, requirements for products and services, design and development, external providers, production and service provision, release, and control of nonconforming outputs.

Performance evaluation and improvement

Clauses 9 and 10 cover how QMS performance is evaluated and improved. Clause 9 addresses monitoring, measurement, analysis and evaluation, customer satisfaction, internal audit and management review. Clause 10 covers continual improvement, nonconformity and corrective action. Together, these requirements help organisations evaluate QMS performance and determine where correction, corrective action or improvement is needed.

What is inside this course

Module 1

Introduction to ISO 9001:2026 and Clauses 1 to 3

Introduces ISO 9001:2026, the benefits of a quality management system, and the core concepts that support its application: Plan Do Check Act, the process approach, risk-based thinking, and the quality management principles. Covers Clause 1 Scope, Clause 2 Normative references, and Clause 3 Terms and definitions.

Module 2

Clause 4 Context of the Organization

Determining the organisation's context and the internal and external issues that affect the QMS, including where climate change is relevant. Understanding the needs and expectations of interested parties, determining the scope of the quality management system, and defining the QMS and its processes.

Module 3

Clause 5 Leadership

Leadership and commitment, quality culture and ethical behaviour, developing and communicating the quality policy, and assigning organisational roles, responsibilities and authorities.

Module 4

Clause 6 Planning

Determining risks and opportunities, including separate actions to address risks (6.1.2) and opportunities (6.1.3). Setting quality objectives, planning how to achieve them, and planning changes to the QMS (6.3).

Module 5

Clause 7 Support

Resources needed for the QMS, including people, infrastructure, the environment for operating processes, monitoring and measuring resources, and organisational knowledge. Also covers competence, awareness, communication and documented information.

Module 6

Clause 8 Operation

The operational core of the standard: operational planning and control, requirements for products and services, design and development, control of externally provided processes, products and services, production and service provision, release of products and services, and control of nonconforming outputs.

Module 7

Clause 9 Performance Evaluation

Monitoring, measurement, analysis and evaluation, including customer satisfaction, internal audit and its objectives, and management review. Includes gathering objective evidence and evaluating whether QMS requirements are being met.

Module 8

Clause 10 Improvement

Continual improvement, nonconformity and corrective action, including how these requirements support ongoing QMS improvement.

Knowledge checks throughout

Every module includes knowledge checks that reinforce your understanding before you move on. These are non graded and can be revisited as often as you like, with instant feedback.

Practical, clause based learning

Your learning is reinforced by working through the included worksheets and templates against real requirements, from the context worksheet and QMS scope builder through to the risk and opportunity action planner, internal audit programme and report, and corrective action register. You work through quality management documentation as you progress, rather than only answering questions about the standard.

Scenario based application

The Specialist content uses quality management scenarios to show how requirements can be interpreted and applied, including the evidence you might look for when auditing a QMS.

Assessment and your Certificate of Attainment

On successful completion of all assessment requirements you will be issued with a TPECS Certificate of Attainment covering Exemplar Global QM26.
